Paratransit Service

Program provides paratransit service for those with functional mobility limitations that may be able to serve from door-to-door.There are some restrictions. In order to use this service, community members must have a functional mobility limitation that prevents them from accessing JET's normal fixed route bus service for all or some of their trips. A functional mobility limitation is something that keeps a community member from getting to a bus stop and using one of the fixed routes.Please contact program for schedule and reservation requirements.

Curbside Service/Paratransit

Fort Transit provides curbside service for passengers with qualifying disabilities (Paratransit) and/or passengers travelling outside the fixed route coverage area (Demand/Response). When scheduling curbside service, please check to ensure you have provided the office with the most recent information regarding any changes that may affect your schedule. Client registration is required prior to scheduling for curbside service.Fort Smith Transit does not provide same day service. Customers must schedule one day in advance and may schedule multiple trips from one to five days in advance with one call. Dispatchers will select the pick up and drop off times available nearest your request. Call the office for information regarding paratransit certification. To schedule rides the following information is requested: Passenger Name The date and time of pick-up and return trip The exact name and address of the pick-up and drop-off locations (including return trip information) Advise if there is any other pertinent information the dispatcher should know, such as time of appointment if scheduling medical or other appointments.If you need to cancel a previously scheduled ride, the preferred method is to cancel the ride as soon as possible or at a minimum (1) hour before your scheduled pick up time. When canceling a trip, be sure to clarify the exact trips or time frame to be cancelled.For paratransit each trip must be cancelled individually or penalties will result for each and every trip scheduled. No penalties will result as long as cancellations are made within (1) hour of your scheduled ride. The dispatchers will assign you a cancellation number for verification. Failure to cancel or comply with the requirements above will result in a no show.
