Program is a partnership between the two legal aid agencies serving the state of Arkansas. It provides free legal assistance to people impacted by substance use disorder (SUD) navigating civil, not criminal, legal issues. Although the grant funding is limited to rural counties, Legal Aid of Arkansas provides services under other grants for urban counties, as well. Program has a goal to help consumers learn to make healthy food and lifestyle choices, so they can lose weight and prevent chronic, life-threatening illnesses. Program offers diet screening (assessing food currently consumed) and nutritional counseling, along with health screenings to check blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels to help determine risk of developing heart disease and diabetes.Program also helps those who are underweight or malnourished. Recreational Bowling is held at Midland Bowl on Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm and on Saturday afternoons at 3:00 pm. Bowling promotes hand-eye coordination and social skills, as well as providing physical exercise for our members.

An annual caregiver workshop held in Central Arkansas, North West Arkansas, and South West Arkansas through which Alzheimer's Arkansas reaches out to caregivers. This daylong education workshop provides family and professional caregivers with general information regarding Alzheimer's disease and its progression; tools, knowledge and techniques to improve caregiving skills, and information concerning resources available to caregivers and Alzheimer's patients through vendor exhibits.

Program provides inpatient behavioral health care to clients who qualify.Program is licensed by the Arkansas Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and are accredited by Joint Commission. The hospital has nine units and 222 patient beds in three service areas: General Adult, Adult Forensic, and Adolescent.
Program helps people living with HIV/AIDS who have problems affording housing. Such persons may be actually homeless, or are at risk of becoming homeless. If a person is: HIV-positive has a home but is falling behind on paying rent, mortgage or utilities all of which could lead to eviction, or if one does not have a home (might be staying with relatives or friends temporarily, or staying in shelters or transitional housing, or even on the streets)the HOPWA program can assist one in paying for those housing needs in order for one to have safe, stable, appropriate housing. HOPWA is a state-provided housing assistance program using federal funding that prioritizes solely for community members with a diagnosis of HIV. With housing problems addressed, individuals can in turn access medical care, HIV/AIDS medications and many other services essential to living life as normal as possible. Core HOPWA services include: Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA): long-term housing subsidy. Short-Term Rent, Mortgage or Utility Assistance (STRMU)-up to 21 weeks of assistance. Permanent Housing Placement (PHP) assistance: utility and or security deposits and 1st month rent. Support Services: linkage to essential medical, dental and mental health care, job training, etc.NOTE: HOPWA funds cannot be provided directly to individuals.

Program provides free four-hour workshops offered in the community designed to increase family members' knowledge of caregiving for older adults in the home. They offer an Alzheimer's/Dementia Workshop and a Physical Skills Workshop. Workshops can be scheduled at a location for groups of ten or more. This workshop is provided by the UAMS Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program curriculum.
