Arkansas School for the Deaf
Program serves as the center for Deaf Education throughout the state. The school follows a state-mandated curriculum and provides individualized education to students from throughout Arkansas, many of whom live on campus during the week in dormitories. It serves students from preschool through high school and beyond through a comprehensive post-secondary program focusing on career and college readiness. The school also provides support for deaf and hard of hearing students in mainstream programs throughout the state and serves families of deaf children from birth until school age through a home-visitation program.

Application process
Parent of a child (ages 2 to 5): Please contact Rick Porter, ASD's Director of Student Services to be guided through the application process.Parent of a child (ages 5 to 21):Contact local school district and tell them of interest in ASD.Contact ASD Admissions: 501-324-9533 or email Rick Porter, ASD's Director of Student Services via website.Tour the ASD campus with family. School district staff may like to join family.Schedule a Shadow Day for child to get a glimpse of a typical school day at ASD (to attend classes, explore the campus, and eat lunch with a special student host). During their visit, they may also take specific assessments to help teachers prepare for their enrollment and class placement.Work with local school district to schedule an IEP meeting. During this meeting, placement at ASD can be determined.
